Job Title: Head of Video – Capital
At Global, we think big, work hard, and never stand still. We’re the proud home of the best media and entertainment, driven by our talented and passionate people. Our mission? To make everyone’s day brighter—our Globallers, our audiences, our partners, and our communities. Whether we’re in the studio, building world-class technology, or securing record outdoor advertising partnerships, we make sure we’re doing it as a team.
Your Role: Head of Video – Capital
Are you a talented video leader ready to shape how Capital continues to build its online audiences? If you’re passionate about building and managing a talented team that creates outstanding, share-worthy video content, this role is for you.
As Head of Video at Capital, you’ll lead the video output across one of Global’s biggest brands, reporting to Capital’s Digital Managing Editor and Global’s Video Production & Operations Director. Working closely with our radio, digital and social teams, you’ll lead a first-class team in creating outstanding, engaging video content that keeps Capital at the top of the media industry.
Key Responsibilities
Content Leadership & Production (50%):
Lead the creation and delivery of industry-leading video content across Capital, from radio visualisation to original formats/series and large-scale productions.
Maintain video production excellence across every project, using expert production techniques and workflows.
Decide when to operate a camera or do the edit yourself, and when to delegate or bring in extra resource to manage a high volume of video requests.
Team Management & Development (30%):
Lead and manage a team of Video Producers, taking junior team members under your wing.
Manage workloads and provide feedback to help the team develop their video production skills.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture within the video team.
Strategy & Stakeholder Collaboration (20%):
Influence the strategy behind Capital’s video content, asking the right questions: What are we making? Why? For which platform? How could we improve it?
Work with radio teams to amplify on-air content in video and lead ideas sessions to shape Capital’s social video output.
Build and grow strong working relationships between video, radio, social and digital stakeholders.
What You’ll Love About This Role
Think Big: Shape the future of video across one of the UK’s biggest radio brands.
Own It: Lead a talented team and take charge of Capital’s video output from strategy to delivery.
Keep it Simple: Build strong processes and workflows that let your team do their best work.
Better Together: Work across radio, video, social and digital teams who are all pulling in the same direction.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
Shaped and evolved Capital’s video output, from radio visualisation to original formats and large-scale productions.
Taken junior team members under your wing, managing workloads and helping them develop their skills.
Successfully managed a high volume of video requests, deciding when to do them yourself, delegate, or bring in extra resource.
Influenced the strategy behind Capital’s video content and built confidence asking the right questions of stakeholders.
Learned new, and perfected existing, video production skills and techniques.
Fostered strong working relationships between video, radio, social and digital teams.
Maintained video production excellence and consistent, professional communication across the business.
Understood and adopted internal processes, workflows and policies.
What You’ll Need
Leadership & Development: Previous experience managing and developing more junior members of a video team.
Technical Expertise: Expert knowledge of video production techniques and workflows, including intermediate/expert use of Adobe Premiere Pro. Experience with After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator is an advantage.
Camera & Filming Knowledge: Knowledge of advanced filming, camera operating and lighting techniques. Specific experience with the Sony FX3/FX6/A7 range is advantageous.
Digital Savvy: A solid understanding of the social media landscape, the need to adapt content per platform and the ability to plan shoots accordingly.
Collaborative Spirit: A can-do attitude, willing to go the extra mile and remain professional and courteous with colleagues and external contractors.
Proactive Innovation: Proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions to keep Capital’s video output ahead of the curve.
