Your new role

LBC is looking for a reporter to join its award-winning brand and record-breaking team.

You’ll have a track record in breaking exclusives, delivering first class eyewitness reports and getting to the heart of stories that audiences truly care about.

Based in our London newsroom, you’ll be providing content for all parts of our brand from LBC to LBC News and our digital platforms including the LBC app. You’ll be comfortable providing live analysis on breaking stories and securing exclusive stories that makes us stand out. You will be aware that news happens 24/7, so an understanding that this isn’t a ‘normal’ office job is important, with the requirement to work some weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be comfortable reporting live for LBC and LBC News, reaching more than three million people a week.

• You will be brimming with ideas with the experience to turn those ideas into engaging radio.

• You will have a strong broadcast voice, with the ability to deliver reports with authority.

• You will have the skills to deliver online content and understand the role social media can play in what we do.

• You will come with an established contacts book with strong relationships across multiple fields, both in London and nationally.

 What Success Looks Like

 In your first few months, you’ll have:

•  

  Built good relationships across LBC and the wider broadcasting and content team.

• Delivered reports and worked with our newsgathering team to land your own exclusives.

• Grasped the news agenda for LBC and LBC News.

• Led on a breaking news story for the brand.

   

What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

•  You’ll need to be a journalist with previous experience of reporting live along with creating original content for on-air and online.

• You’ll have excellent networking skills, with detailed knowledge of the domestic news agenda and a healthy contacts book to match.

• You will have strong knowledge of the law and OFCOM broadcasting code

.

• You’ll have demonstrable experience of pitching and delivering original content.

• You’ll have experience of responding to changing situations and be a good problem-solver under pressure.

• News happens 24/7 - this isn’t a ‘normal’ office job and flexibility is key.

• Although you will be based in London, you'll be willing and able to travel to other parts of the UK on occasion.

• You’ll be confident with audio and video editing, and comfortable appearing in vision when necessary.
