Your role - Managing Editor, Classic FM

As Managing Editor, Classic FM, you will shape the future of the UK’s most popular classical music brand. You’ll drive the creative and strategic direction of Classic FM across all platforms and touchpoints, ensuring our content resonates with over 4.7 million weekly listeners and 8.5 million social media followers.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership (30%): Develop and execute a content and growth strategy to grow Classic FM’s position as the UK’s leading classical music brand. Lead the team in delivering a compelling vision that inspires both audiences and commercial partners.
- Content Excellence (40%): Oversee the creation and delivery of outstanding classical music programming across radio, digital, and social platforms. Maintain the highest standards of quality and ensure every piece of content reflects the Classic FM brand values.
- Team Development & Collaboration (30%): Inspire, motivate, and develop a talented team of presenters, producers, and creative partners. Foster a collaborative culture, bringing out the best in everyone and ensuring a unified approach to achieving Classic FM’s goals.

What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Built strong relationships with Classic FM presenters, producers, and the wider Global team.
- Developed a deep understanding of the Classic FM brand and audience.
- Led planning and strategy sessions to set the direction for future content.
- Delivered engaging content across radio, digital, and social platforms.
- Devised and implemented ways to hone and improve the output.
- Managed key projects from conception through to delivery.
What You’ll Need
Vision & Strategy: Ability to develop and deliver a clear vision for Classic FM’s growth and content direction.
Leadership: Proven track record in a senior programming role, with experience managing and inspiring creative teams.
Content Expertise: Deep understanding of classical music, audience preferences, and the ability to translate this into engaging programming.
Commercial Acumen: Comfortable balancing creative ambition with commercial objectives and delivering workable solutions for partners.
Stakeholder Management: Experience working with senior stakeholders and high-profile talent, both internally and externally.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining quality control and ensuring every piece of content meets the Classic FM brand standards, Ofcom’s Broadcasting Code and the BCAP Code.
Coaching and Development: Nurturing talent by empowering and guiding individuals to unlock their potential.
Building Trust: Creating and maintaining an inclusive environment where diverse views and experiences are welcomed and celebrated in your team.
